Running Toward

Today I was out to lunch, something I don’t do often, and while my mother and I were sitting there, we watched a family pull into the parking lot. A father, mother, and two young boys spilled out of a van and ran toward wooden fence barrier at the end of the lot overlooking the drop off which lead to the baseball stadium, pure joy on their faces.

Pulling out a cell phone, they spent the next few minutes taking energetic selfies with he stadium in the background. At this point I should mention then man and children were dressed in baseball shirts and hats. Yes, these were enthusiastic people.

What is it like to follow your bliss?

I imagine it’s like running toward a stadium, dressed in your spotless baseball shirts, your family in tow, and camera in hand. These people weren’t going to the game. They weren’t even stopping for lunch. They just saw the stadium and had to stop. They were overjoyed to see it.

I get that way when I do my creative things. It’s an overwhelming sense of happiness that continually drives me forward.

Does happiness take work? Do you you have to fight for your dreams? Is making your brand a reality something you have to eat, sleep, and breath to achieve? Yes, yes, yes! This is not an easy road we’ve chosen. It’s long nights, longer days, and work unlike anything you’ve known. But it’s worth it.

It’s worth it, it’s worth it, it’s worth it.

And when you prioritize it, when you make it so important to you that you stop making excuses like “I don’t have time” or “I don’t understand the technology,” and when you work for it like it’s everything…that’s when you’re going to make it grow the way you want to. When you’re all in, despite everything else, that’s when you’ll be the happiest. And when you work for it and care for it like it’s your baby (your baby business) it’s going to be everything you want it to be.

Today, be like that family and run toward that thing that makes you happy. Run for it and embrace it, take care of it and build it up. You only get one chance at this. Make it bliss and let it shine.

Stay inspired,
-K.M.
